Editor's note: Thank you Mohneet for sharing your take on mental health and how it can impact any individual.
I am 23 years old and I have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorder, eating disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. I have struggled with behavioural issues since the age of four. I was always the confused, weird, and overly emotional personality.
Now, I ask you to portray me. Did you presume I was either too timid or too violent? Did you presume that I am a school dropout or someone inefficient? Let me describe myself again.
I am 23 years old and graduated with a double major in economics and commerce. I have been a good student and have held a scholar badge in school. I own a consultancy firm, and I am the only female director in a multinational corporation that trades around three continents. I ask again, how would you portray me this time?
The bottom line is:
Yes, I have mental illness;
Yes, I am on medication;
Yes, I am seeking counselling;
Yes, I am recovering;
Yes, I am more than my illness;
And finally, yes, everyone is more than their illness.
End the stigma and start the support!
