Although it’s tough at times, I don’t regret any of my experiences. I feel like it has made me more empathetic and understanding of those who are going through similar things as I am. I think with mental health issues, it’s so important to be open to conversations about it and to build support systems for each other.
Defining "Normal" when Depression and Anxiety is Lifelong
I originally wrote this poem in 2011 and it was titled 'Alone in the Snow.' I made slight modifications to the poem and retitled it 'Soothing Agony' while trying to maintain the emotion that I had put in while originally writing it.
Braving Anxiety & Depression
The danger of being a lifelong depressed and anxious person means that you can struggle to identify the signs of your own declining mental health.
I made the decision right then and there to save my own life ... I know I'll always struggle with my mental health but I'm determined to keep living, to find treatment and answers in case my children have to fight this fight.
