Assistant Director of Communications

Responsibilities

  • Work with Communications Team to create meaningful and targeted social media content (i.e. Instagram), examples of content are photos and videos capturing:

    • Community member mental health experiences for Outrun the Stigma story sharing initiatives

    • Chapter initiatives - run event, fundraisers  

  • Support daily management of Outrun the Stigma social media platforms

  • Support planning of social media campaigns for Outrun the Stigma initiatives (i.e. Chapter run events or story sharing initiatives)

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or graduate of a Bachelor of Communications or similar program, or comparable experience

  • Strong understanding of social media best practices

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, respectful when meeting community members sharing their mental health story

  • Experienced and creative photographer and videographer

  • Committed to and passionate about mental health awareness

  • Located in Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta for the next year

This is a volunteer position with a time commitment of approximately 5-8 hours per week.

Fund and Resource Development Assistant Director

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Outrun the Stigma NPO board and leadership team to design fund and resource development strategy, with particular attention to financial self-sustainability
  • Create and manage budget for Outrun the Stigma NPO and Outrun the Stigma running events and other initiatives
  • Design, implement, monitor, and evaluate fundraising strategies
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate ethical fundraising policies and procedures
  • Identify and build sponsorship partnerships and design fundraising projects with local businesses, community organizations, and corporations
  • Identify and submit grant applications
  • Coordinate in-kind donations

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or graduate of a business program, preference for concentration or skills in accounting, business planning, and sponsorship development
  • Experience organizing fundraising events, submitting grant applications, and establishing local business or corporate sponsorships  
  • Strong organizational and oral and written communication skills
  • Committed to and passionate about mental health awareness

Outreach Assistant Director: Business and Charity Partners

Start Date: January

Location: Calgary

Responsibilities

  • Work with Outreach Director to create the organization’s partnership strategies and materials

  • Collaborate with Outreach Director to explore partnership opportunities with  local charity organizations

  • Establish partnerships and collaborative opportunities with businesses to promote OTS brand and platform

Qualifications

  • A personal passion for mental health awareness and desires a long term role with the organization

  • Post-secondary education in business with preference given to an applicant with non-profit experience

  • A skill for building relationships with community stakeholders

  • Ability to take initiative, can work independently or within a team environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with fundraising platforms is an asset

  • Superior interpersonal skills, public speaking skills, as well as good listening and negotiation skills
